Taking a Walk on Lewa

I flew back to Kenya yesterday after a month long visit to the US. Other than my transporting a Nora virus from one grandchild in Texas to me to two grandchildren in Minnesota, it was a great trip.

Anne took a walk today so I thought that I would show you what that means.

We decided to try and get photos of a Long Tailed Widowbird and a Hoopoe on the drive to the airstrip. We were successful.

Anne walks at the airstrip because it is (1) allowed and (2) relatively safe. The taxi strip is about 1/2 kilometer long and the airstrip itself is 1.2 kilometers. Anne loops around until she has walked about 8 kilometers.

Anne likes walking in her Naot’s. And the socks will scare off just about anything.

Some days the wildlife is more prevalent than others. Today was a great day for Giraffes

and for Zebra.

There was a charter flight scheduled so the guard chased a few Zebras away before it was due in.

The plane landed just as Anne was finishing her walk.

Taking a walk here isn’t the same as strolling around lake Harriet in Minneapolis.

  1. I’ll say!! Looks great.

BTW, Robin left for 6 weeks in China today. WordPress is blocked there, but he will catch up later.

  2. Great additions to the Bird Photo collection. Walking the Lewa air strip is much more enjoyable exercise than a stationary bicycle. thanks for sharing.
